Apprenticeship Video | Manufacturing Video Production Iowa City
Learning & Development Hub

The Challenge
More than a grand-opening recap
The production took place during the grand opening of the Learning & Development Hub, so much of the available footage naturally centered around the ribbon-cutting ceremony, senior leadership, facility tours, and live demonstrations.
The challenge was to create something that went beyond a traditional corporate event recap. The finished story needed to help prospective applicants understand what the ALPLA apprenticeship program offers: paid education, hands-on technical training, career growth, coaching, and real-world manufacturing experience.

Story Approach
Centering the apprentice experience
Rather than making the new facility the main character, we centered the video around the apprentice experience. Current apprentices shared why they joined the program, what they are learning, how classroom education connects to hands-on manufacturing work, and what opportunities the program can create.
Instructor and program-lead interviews reinforced the structure behind that experience, including dedicated trainers, technical development, soft skills, coaching, and the qualities ALPLA looks for in future apprentices. The Learning & Development Hub became supporting proof of that investment.

Video Production
Interviews, FPV, drone, and hands-on training coverage
The video production combined planned interviews with documentary-style coverage captured during the live grand-opening event. Coverage included apprentice and instructor interviews, training stations, technical equipment, manufacturing demonstrations, branded facility details, FPV cinematography, aerial drone footage, and ribbon-cutting moments.
Because the event footage included senior leadership, the edit was structured carefully to keep apprentices at the center of the story. Whenever possible, the footage emphasized apprentices explaining equipment, operating technology, and demonstrating skills developed through the program.

Photography
A still-image library for recruitment and communications
Alongside the video production, we created a corporate and event photography library designed to serve both immediate and long-term communication needs.
The photography covered grand-opening moments, apprentice training demonstrations, instructors working with apprentices, senior leadership interactions, candid employee moments, facility interiors, portraits, and detail imagery of equipment, tools, and technical spaces.

Editorial Strategy
A candidate-focused recruitment journey
The final video was structured around a simple candidate question: why should someone consider applying to the ALPLA Apprenticeship Program?
The story moves from what attracted apprentices to the program into paid education, hands-on technical training, real-world manufacturing experience, day-to-day learning, career growth, coaching, technical and soft-skill development, and future opportunities inside ALPLA.
Results
A cohesive recruitment and corporate communications asset library built around apprentices, instructors, technical training, and the launch of ALPLA's Iowa City Learning & Development Hub.
